A48 'to be closed for hours' after collision - latest updates

A stretch of the A48 Clasemont Road in Swansea has been closed as a result of a road traffic collision. The road, which runs parallel with the the M4, is closed from the junction 46 entry to the junction 47 exit of the motorway.

The exit slip road on the M4 Westbound at junction 47 is also closed because of the crash. Traffic Wales says the road was closed just before 11.30pm on Saturday night and it currently expects the road to reopen just before 5.30am on Sunday.

An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 11.51pm on Saturday said: "A48 Clasemont Road in both directions closed due to accident from M4 J47 ( Penllergaer / Swansea West Services, Penllergaer ) to M4 J46 ( Llangyfelach , Llangyfelach ). Exit slip road on the M4 Westbound at J47 is also closed."
