'A rocket in his right foot' Brighton midfielder Reda Khadra profiled amid Sheffield United links

Sheffield United are looking to make Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Reda Khadra their fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The Blades are with the Seagulls over a loan move for Khadra, who was due to visit the club on Friday.

Our Sheffield United reporter Nathan Hemmingham that the Blades were ‘confident’ in securing a loan move but warned that reports of a ‘done deal’ are premature.

With his potential arrival on the cards, Yorkshire Live has taken a closer look at the former Borussia Dortmund academy player.

Born in Berlin, Khadra spent the primitive stages of his youth career at local clubs CFC Hertha 06 and Tennis Borussia Berlin respectively, before switching to Dortmund in 2016.

Injury marred much of the early stages of his time in North Rhine-Westphalia as he missed 16 games during a seven-month lay-off.

He is a Bundesliga champion at U17 and U19 level and played with the likes of Giovanni Reyna, Ansgar Knauff and Youssoufa Moukoko. Reyna is now a first team regular for the Black and Yellows, Moukoko is the youngest goal scorer in Bundesliga history and Knauff lifted the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt last term.

Khadra was unable to go as far as his fellow Dortmund colleagues and was released by the club in 2020. He played 67 times for the U17 and U19 teams combined – registering two goals and 11 assists.

Manchester United shortly after his Dortmund exit but he didn’t feature for their U23 side that lost 5-0 at Doncaster Rovers in a pre-season friendly in September 2020.

The central attacking midfielder, who is also capable of playing on either wing, quickly found himself a new club when Brighton & Hove Albion signed him just a month after his trial with Man United.
