A Manchester United partnership could end this week

Manchester United play their final Europa League league match against FCSB in Bucharest tonight, aiming to secure a top eight finish and progress automatically to the last 16.

A win would guarantee United go through and avoid a two-legged play-off next month. They could stay in the top eight or drop out if they draw or lose, depending on results elsewhere.

United are unbeaten in their seven European ties this season, having won four and drawn three. FCSB-United is the only match between teams in the top 12.

Here are five things to look out for in Romania this evening:

How will Amorim rotate?

There were five changes to the United team against Rangers a week ago and another five changes three days later at Fulham. Ruben Amorim has had some painful teething problems during weeks where United are playing twice and he has over-rotated at times.

As important as it is that United automatically qualify for the last 16, they are in a secure enough position that Amorim could justify making another five changes. Altay Bayindir, Leny Yoro, Toby Collyer and Joshua Zirkzee are among those in line for recalls.

Victory even in defeat?

United are fourth in the Europa League table, the top eight qualify automatically for the last 16, and teams as far down as 12th can overtake United.

Amorim's side have a modest goal difference of +5. Olympiakos, 12th, are three points behind with a goal difference of +3 and host Qarabag, third from bottom in the 32-team table. So if United lost, the 12th-placed side could easily leapfrog them.

United could draw in Bucharest and go through or drop into the play-offs if results go against them. They could also lose and stay in the top eight if results go in their favour. FCSB-United is the only match
