'A lot of talk' - Julian Alvarez fresh quotes change Man City future message

Julian Alvarez has said he feels 'very good' at Manchester City in new quotes that have emerged over his future.

The Argentine, currently at the Olympics with his national team after winning the Copa America, has been the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid this summer with reports that he is keen on a more important role. On Monday, the City forward was quoted discussing unhappiness at being left out of the team for important matches despite playing more minutes than most players.

Pep Guardiola was asked about the comments in a press conference on Monday evening and gave his opinion that Alvarez had 'played a lot' last season. City's coach said he wasn't thinking about a replacement but urged his striker to do the thinking he had said needed to be done and let sporting director Txiki Begiristain know.

However, while Alvarez may still have a decision to make, his comments on his future that subsequently came out suggested he was happier at the Etihad than had been made out. The 24-year-old did bring up the disappointment of being left out of important matches but went on to say how good his season was.

"There is a lot of talk," he said. "I am focused here [at the Olympics] because it is a short tournament.

"At Manchester City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes. But we will see after the Games. First, if I can, I will take a few days off. Then we will decide.

"Maybe it's annoying to be out in big games, players always want to help on the pitch. But my season was good, so I'm very happy."
