"A concern for Klopp" – Journalist drops Liverpool claim amid situation with £72m-rated star
Liverpool losing Sadio Mane is a major “concern” for Jurgen Klopp, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The £72m-rated winger has been one of the Reds’ key players during his six years at Anfield, but with just 12 months remaining on his contract, he might have played his last game for the club.
Following weeks of speculation, the Senegal international could leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga champions keen on signing him as Robert Lewandowski‘s replacement.
But the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement over Mane’s price. The German outfit saw a £21m bid rising to £25m knocked back earlier this month, while their second offer of £23.5m rising to £30m, which was described as ‘laughable’ by Liverpool, was also rejected, with the Reds holding out for £40m.
Despite being apart in their valuation of the 30-year-old, who scored more than 100 goals in his Reds career, Mane is still set to end his six-year stay at Anfield, in which he’s won the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Not only will Mane’s absence be hugely felt by Liverpool, but O’Rourke reckons that replacing one of English football’s top attacking players could also prove a difficult task.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s big boots to fill for Liverpool and it will be a worry for Klopp whether he can possibly find a replacement for Mane, although Diaz was brought in January, he could maybe fit in on the left side of the front three, where Mane predominantly played, but you don’t want to lose your best players, so that will be a concern for Klopp.”
