A big weekend coming up, our momentum should carry us to the final

Of the two teams playing in Sunday’s cup semi-final, one is on an upward trajectory and the other on a downward one. Since the turn of the year, a 12 point swing at the top of the Scottish Premiership clearly shows which team is the form team.

But as they say, form goes out the window in a cup game and this is true. However, momentum, confidence and a winning mentality do not. I have no doubt we are in for a cracking spectacle on Sunday and as we all know, the wide open expanses of Hampden will only serve to improve Celtic’s already lethal passing game.

Realistically, this is the Ibrox side’s last definitive shot at domestic silverware. They know only a massive collapse by Celtic will hand them the league. When they step onto the pitch on Sunday, this will be all that is in their minds. Make no mistake, they will be up for this one.

What will also be in their minds is the psychological aspect this game will have on the league outcome. Should Celtic win this one, the psychological edge will be theirs going into the last Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park. However, should the Ibrox side triumph, they’ll definitely fancy their chances going into that final league Derby.

The reality, though, is that I just think Celtic will have too much for them on the day. Last Saturday was an example of the lethality of our form at the moment. Yes, St. Johnstone are not the Ibrox side, but it was our passing game that tore them asunder. As I alluded to earlier, the open expanses of Hampden will only serve to augment that style of play.

However, I expect the Ibrox side to show up on the day and this is what will make it a great spectacle. So what can we expect from the day? Well firstly, the weather conditions are not looking good for Sunday.
