Erik ten Hag added seven new faces to his squad, with business being concluded right up until the dying embers of the window. Outgoings, too, took centre stage as the Dutchman aimed to trim an overinflated squad.

At one stage, every man and his dog appeared linked with a move to Old Trafford but Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund ultimately finished as the club's marquee arrivals. There were many names who appeared likely to join the Red Devils throughout the summer but, for whatever reason, never signed the dotted line.

Harry Kane

Arguably the most obvious choice on this list. Whenever Tottenham Hotspur appeared to be in a slump, the England captain would always be linked with a move away.
