8 players you probably forgot ever played for Sunderland

The campaign hasn’t quite turned out how fans of the Black Cats would’ve hoped all the way back in August.

Alex Neil is now in charge of the team, with Sunderland now 7th in the third tier table. 

The gap to the top six places is two points but with a game in hand on 6th place Wycombe Wanderers. 

The team will be pushing to make up that gap in the closing stages as they look to earn a place in next season’s Championship.

It has been a tumultuous period for Sunderland as the club has fallen down to the third division of English football, having spent a decade as a Premier League outfit previously. 

But over the history of the club’s existence, many great names have come through the doors of the Stadium of Light.

Not all of them have lived up to expectations though, and on today’s list we are going to look at eight such players you probably forgot played for the Black Cats…
