8 players you probably forgot ever played for Portsmouth

Portsmouth are a club with a massive history having competed at the top level of English for a number of years.

They have been champions of the first division and won the FA Cup twice too.

Although turmoil off the pitch saw Pompey fall down to League Two, since then they have been working their way back up the football pyramid having won the EFL Cup on the way too.

Now they sit firmly in League One under the management of Danny Cowley and tenth in the table but will no doubt be hoping to build off this and try and push for promotion next year.

A range of well-known names have played for Portsmouth including David James, Paul Merton and Jimmy Dickinson so with promotion very unlikely to happen this year, we’ve decided to take a look back in history instead.
