70% duels lost, gave the ball away 36 times, 0 crosses: Celtic trio have shocker vs Bodo/Glimt

Celtic were dumped out of the Europa Conference League on Thursday evening, losing the second leg against Bodo/Glimt 2-0.

Ange Postecoglou rang the changes for the trip to Norway, but they didn’t have the desired effect, with goals in each half ensuring a 5-1 aggregate defeat for the Hoops.

There were some pretty underwhelming performances from those in green and white, and The Transfer Tavern have used statistical experts SofaScore to analyse who Celtic’s three worst players (to have played at least 45 minutes) were on the night.

In total, these players lost the ball a whopping 36 times, were second best in 70% of their aerial and ground duels and failed to complete a cross between them.

First up is Scales, who struggled throughout at left-back. The summer signing lost the ball on 19 occasions and was successful in just five of his 12 duels.

The Irishman also failed to complete any of his attempted crosses and committed three fouls, one of which resulted in a booking.

Next up is Maeda, who once again lined out on the wing with Giorgos Giakoumakis occupying a central role up top.

The Japanese forward lost eight of his 10 duels, gave possession away eight times and missed a big chance. He also attempted just one cross (which didn’t reach its intended target), was dribbled past twice and committed two fouls.

O’Riley is the final player to make the list and was actually replaced at half-time with the Hoops trailing.

During his 45 minutes on the pitch, the midfielder lost the ball nine times, failed to deliver an accurate cross and was second-best in three of his four duels. He also failed to make a defensive contribution and had just 24 touches of the ball.
