60% passing accuracy, 1 goal: The Huddersfield Town man who impressed against Hull City
Playoff chasing Huddersfield Town got their season up and running again with a 1-0 win over Hull City on Friday night.
It was a much-needed three points and two disappointing performances and defeats just before the latest international break.
Getting the three points and a clean sheet are the foundations that have helped the Terriers mount an unlikely playoff push after pre-season predictions of struggles.
However, they reintroduced themselves as contenders for the top six and lay down the gauntlet for their playoff-chasing rivals with this win which saw Carlos Corberan’s side back at their best.
There may have been a sense of nervousness going into this game for supporters and players alike given the poor performance heading into the game. However, it was a game where Huddersfield were much the better side and unfortunate not to score more goals in this game.
The matchwinner in this game though was the ever-reliable Harry Toffolo who has gone under the radar as one of the most consistent wing-backs this season.
His performance was key to Huddersfield being creative in this game as his ability to be an outlet at all times gives the Terriers much-needed width in their attack.
He recorded the third-most touches on the pitch, with the former Norwich and Lincoln player always available in possession. Going forward, he was a danger with the ball at his feet, as he delivered two accurate crosses into the box for his strikers to make use of.
But defensively, he was a rock. He won four of his six aerial duels and two of his four attempted tackles against a team that utilise the wider areas incredibly well. To top off the defensive performance, he made three clearances and played a part in limiting Hull to just six shots
