6-Year-Old Swindon Town Fan Sends Heart-Rending Letter And 26p To Favourite Player

The footballing community is rallying around for a young boy who wrote a heart-rending letter to Swindon Town and attached 26p to be given to his favourite player.

The League Two side are trying to track down six-year-old Joe, who sent the latter with the pocket change sellotaped and explained he can't get to games because his 'Mummy' can't afford it.

He also revealed forward Harry McKirdy, who scored against Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup last month, is his favourite player.

"Mummy doesn’t have any money to come to Swindon games because she has no money for food and has to pay for my dinner at school,” the handwritten letter shared online.

“I like Swindon Town Harry McKirdy. I will come one day."

The letter was signed off by “Joe Aged 6 1/2."

Swindon, who are 8th in the fourth tier, posted the letter on Twitter and encouraged fans to get in touch if they recognised the writing or had an inkling of who the youngster might be.

The club are still searching for him and are hoping to roll out the red carpet and give him the VIP treatment in the future.

The official Sky Bet League Two Twitter account shared the letter to boost the bid to find Joe, with the tweet well and truly going viral.

The description reads: "Swindon Town FC have been contacted by a young boy called Joe who unfortunately doesn't have the privileges of being able to attend football matches!

"This is where football comes together. Lets [sic] all get together and fund for Joe & his family to attend a game & for Joe to be mascot for the day giving him an experience for life!

"Just to confirm that 100% of these proceeds will go to the club to support Joe & his family."

Let's hope Joe can be tracked down and he gets the experience of a lifetime.
