6.1 duels won per game: This Middlesbrough man could attract interest from elsewhere this summer

Despite demonstrating some real signs of promise under the guidance of manager Chris Wilder earlier this year, Middlesbrough missed out on a place in the play-offs after embarking on a poor run of form during the closing stages of the 2021/22 campaign.

Wilder has already decided to make some alterations to his squad ahead of the summer transfer window as Sol Bamba, Lee Peltier and Neil Taylor will all be leaving Boro when their contracts expire.

One of the individuals who Middlesbrough will be desperate to keep at the Riverside Stadium is Isaiah Jones.

When you consider that the wing-back managed to produce a host of impressive performances in the previous term, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he attracts interest from elsewhere in the coming months.

Here, using data gathered from SofaScore, we have decided to take a closer look at Jones’ Championship statistics from the 2021/22 campaign…

Jones started 36 of the 42 league games that he participated in last season for Boro and recorded a respectable average SofaScore match rating of 6.95 at this level.

The 22-year-old’s willingness to provide an attacking outlet from the right-hand side of the pitch resulted in him providing an impressive total of eight assists for his team-mates while he also completed 1.4 successful dribbles per fixture.

Jones averaged 48.2 touches of the ball per game and managed to register a pass success rate of 77% in the second-tier.

One of the areas that the wing-back will be looking to improve is his cross accuracy as only 20% of his deliveries found a Middlesbrough player.

In terms of his defensive work, Jones managed to win 1.9 tackles per game and didn’t make a single error which directly led to a goal for his side’s opponents.
