£40m fee, Hojlund doubts, Ineos 'reluctance' - Ivan Toney to Man United transfer latest

Manchester United are a week away from the start of their Premier League campaign and question marks still remain about whether or not they have added enough depth to their squad.

Two new acquisitions have been added this summer: defender Leny Yoro and striker Joshua Zirkzee. The former has already picked up a long-term injury while Rasmus Hojlund is also set to miss the first few weeks of the season.

While the transfer deadline is not until the end of the month, Erik ten Hag would have been keen to make the majority of his additions before the Premier League kicks off. This now appears unlikely though as United appear to be no closer to any more new faces.

This has not stopped the rumour mill going into overdrive regarding Brentford striker Ivan Toney. United are believed to be interested in the striker in the wake of Hojlund's injury.

With this in mind, MEN Sport has rounded up all the news surrounding Toney's future and United's reported interest.

At the beginning of the year, it was reported that Brentford could be looking for as much as £100m for Toney to allow him to leave. However, a slow end to last season has seen interest in the forward drop and the Bees lower their asking price accordingly.

According to Forbes, the Reds are planning to revisit their interest due to the injury to Hojlund. If they were to make an approach for the striker, it would cost them £40m.

It is no secret the Englishman would be interested in moving on from Brentford this summer. In the build-up to his return to football following a gambling ban, Toney conducted several interviews declaring his interest in a big transfer.
