3 things we clearly learnt about QPR after their 2-1 defeat v Cardiff City

QPR slipped to a fourth defeat in their last six Championship matches yesterday afternoon, with Cardiff City running out as 2-1 winners at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium.

Despite their poor recent run of form, the R’s came into yesterday’s contest unbeaten in their last six at their West London home.

Andre Gray opened the scoring in the 38th minute for the hosts, however, goals from Isaak Davies and Rubin Colwill, in the 70th and 74th minutes respectively, confined Mark Warburton’s side to yet another loss.

Here, we take a look at three things we learnt about the R’s during yesterday’s defeat against Cardiff…

Poor second half proves costly

The R’s looked back to a good level of performance during the first half, with Warburton’s side deserving to go into the break 1-0 to the good.

However, they were unable to back that up in the second half, as Cardiff came out the blocks quicker, sustaining that during the 45 minutes.

Ilias Chair and Chris Willock were unable to create anything meaningful during the second 45 minutes, whilst Jeff Hendrick and Sam Field struggled to keep possession.

Andre Gray followed the trend

Gray enjoyed a strong opening 45 minutes, scoring the opener and causing all sorts of havoc with his pace and desire to get in behind.

The on loan Watford striker took his goal expertly seven minutes before half time and helped to link the play too.

However, he was unable to have any influence in the second half, with much of that to do with the lack of service he was provided with.

QPR’s loss of form has coincided with a struggle within the forward line, but Gray emerged as one of the R’s top performers yesterday.
