2022 World Matchplay: Danny Noppert’s no-look 180 followed by bullseye finish

Danny Noppert continues his World Matchplay campaign later tonight when he takes on Dirk van Duijvenbode in an all Dutch clash in the quarter finals.

Before he takes on his compatriot, he’s already enjoying his best Matchplay campaign and is enjoying one of the best seasons of his darting career.

‘Noppie’ won the 2022 UK Open to clinch his maiden major title of his career earlier this season and is looking to repeat the feat and win the prestigious, iconic World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens.

He’s been in great form this week, beating Brendan Dolan 10 -6 with a 100.7 average before his second round encounter saw him dispatch Daryl Gurney 11-4 with a 102.36 average.

Gurney went viral during his first round match with legend Gary Anderson for hitting a no-look 180, showboating on his way to victory.

The Northern Irishman was throwing first in the 10th leg, which saw Noppert follow up a poor opening visit of 55 with a 180. Gurney’s response was to go single 20, treble 20, then his last dart saw him go for a no-look 140, which was a strange decision, there’s no showboating with a ton 40…

Noppert responded by beginning to fill up the lipstick again, his first two arrows were perfect as he looked for back-to-back maximums and break throw for a 7-3 lead.

He attempted the no-look in response, but didn’t falter and got the maximum whilst showboating to leave 86 left in the leg.

His opponent couldn’t take out the 92 he was left on and Noppert got a chance to take out 86. After hitting two single 18s, he was left on the bullseye, pinning it to break throw, putting him in a commanding position on his way to victory.

DARTHOUSERY!
