2 winners and 2 losers from the Miami GP

And just like that, the Miami Grand Prix was over.

All the excitement and build-up to F1’s newest race has been and gone, and we now have a result to show for it with Max Verstappen taking the lead early from Charles Leclerc and then keeping him at bay, despite a late concerted effort from the Ferrari man after a Safety Car in the closing stages.

In truth, the race needed that Safety Car to spark into life as beforehand the Grand Prix was rather going through the motions but, thankfully, we did at least get some action towards the end.

Who were the winners and losers from the weekend, though? We take a look at two of each…

Winner – Alex Albon

Albon is really excelling in that Williams of his at the moment, and he scored more points in Miami for the team.

He said post-race that on paper this track was going to be horrible for the car but he managed to get a decent tune out of it from early in the weekend, and rose to finish in the points – with him finishing 9th after a penalty had been handed to Fernando Alonso in front of him.

A fine weekend for Albon, who looks nicely settled in the Grove team now.

Loser – Mick Schumacher

Poor Mick. That’s all you could feel as he tangled with friend Sebastian Vettel in the final laps.

Schumacher had looked really strong all weekend around the Miami circuit and would have been good value for the points finish that he was on course to get.

A late collision with Sebastian Vettel into turn one ruined both their chances of points, though, with Schumacher dropping down the field after needing a replacement front-wing and Sebastian Vettel heading back to the garage with floor damage.

Just a massive shame, with the wait for first-ever F1 points for Schumacher continuing.

Winner – Lance Stroll
