2 West Brom players who could and maybe should be loaned out this summer

West Bromwich Albion will be aiming to launch a push for promotion in the Championship next season under the guidance of manager Steve Bruce.

Bruce has already made some adjustments to his squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign as he secured the services of John Swift on a free transfer last month.

Meanwhile, Sam Johnstone, Andy Carroll and Romaine Sawyers are all set to become free-agents when their contracts at West Brom reach a crescendo at the end of June.

Whereas Bruce will be prioritising incomings over the coming weeks, he may also need to make decisions regarding the futures of some of the club’s younger players.

Zac Ashworth

Zac Ashworth was handed his senior debut by West Brom last season during their FA Cup clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Following this personal milestone, the left-back went on to make two more appearances for the club in the 2021/22 campaign.

Currently behind Conor Townsend in the pecking order at The Hawthorns, Ashworth may be forced to watch on from the sidelines for the majority of the upcoming term if he stays at West Brom.

Instead of opting to play the defender at Under-23 level, the Baggies may be able to further his development by sending him out on loan to a team in a lower division who are willing to offer to start him week-in, week-out.
