2 Todd Boehly Chelsea replacement contenders emerge as chairman to be step down in 3 years

Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly will step down from his role in three years' time, according to reports.

Boehly is currently the main man at Stamford Bridge, but a special agreement between him and the other owners means that the chairmanship can be passed around every five years. They took over the Premier League giants after Roman Abramovich was removed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. So, the chairman's role could change again in 2027. And the Daily Mail says that this change will indeed happen.

Even though Boehly only has a small share in the club, he was made chairman first. Clearlake Capital, the private equity company run by fellow owners Behdad Eghbali and Jose Feliciano, own a 61.5 per cent share in the club's holding company. Boehly shares the remaining 38.5 per cent equally with Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter. Either Eghbali or Feliciano could become the next chairman or they could choose someone else.

A decision on who will be the next chairman hasn't been made yet, but Boehly could possibly return to the role in 2032. Despite spending lots of money since Boehly and his team took over in 2022, Chelsea have been stuck in the middle of the table for two seasons and it looks like they won't be playing in European football again.

Chelsea's big boss Todd Boehly is getting a lot of stick from fans who are unhappy because the team isn't doing as well as Manchester City and Liverpool. The Chelsea Supporters' Trust (CST) has even sent a letter to Mr. Boehly telling him they're worried. They said if the club doesn't talk to fans more, people might start to really not like the owners, no matter if the team wins or loses.

"The current mood amongst supporters is critically low and cannot be ignored," CST
