A report from Football Insider last week suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were willing to step up their pursuit of the defender by lining up a move for him in the coming weeks.
If Peterborough are relegated, Edwards may want to play his football in a higher division and thus it will be difficult for his side to fend off interest from elsewhere.
By sanctioning an exit for a sizeable fee, McCann could reinvest this money back into his side ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
Providing that Peterborough is able to nail his transfer recruitment, it wouldn’t be a shock if his side go on to achieve a relative amount of success in the absence of Edwards.
