Vieira can repeat his Olise masterclass as CPFC plot bid for £15m "incredible talent" - opinion

Crystal Palace target Ronnie Edwards will be able to leave Peterborough United for the right money now that they have been relegated to the third tier.

Peterborough United’s Director of Football Barry Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph earlier this month that his prize asset, Ronnie Edwards, will only be sold if a club is willing to make the 19-year-old the most expensive export in Peterborough United’s 88-year history.

Though Palace face tough competition for the Edwards’ signature with The Mail reporting that a “mystery German club” will provide competition, alongside Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur side.

With Posh now relegated, it presents the Eagles with the perfect opportunity to swoop in and make Edwards their player.

Having made 32 appearances with 66% of those being starts for Peterborough United in the Championship this season, it is no wonder why the England U19 star has attracted such interest.

This also translates to his average of four accurate long balls per game, which rank him second out of the Peterborough squad.

The fact that Grant McCann’s side have struggled with possession this season paints both metrics with more esteem.

Edwards’ total of 43 interceptions this season have seen him average around 1.5 interceptions per game which is a slight improvement on Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen who has averaged around 1.3 interceptions this season and a big improvement over Marc Guehi who has averaged around 0.8
