2 in, 1 out: The transfer scenarios that might play out at Sheffield United early in the summer transfer window

Sheffield United will be eager to put the disappointment of play-off heartbreak behind them and start building towards a successful 2022/23 Championship campaign. 

Edged out of the second-tier play-offs on penalties, the Blades now have the rest of the summer to strengthen with Paul Heckingbottom at the helm. 

The Yorkshire club displayed excellent form under Heckingbottom’s stewardship, with the 44-year-old taking charge at Bramall Lane back in November, after Slavisa Jokanovic found it difficult to ease the transition from a poor Premier League campaign into the Championship. 

Given their turn of form under Heckingbottom, and the natural expectations placed on the club, Sheffield United are likely to be pushing for automatic promotion next season, meaning that they will be hopeful that their recruitment matches that ambition.

IN: Morgan Gibbs-White 

Morgan Gibbs-White returning to Yorkshire would be a real sign of intent and an excellent boost for their 2022/23 campaign. 

Proving to be a creative genius, and an important source of goals, the Wolves loanee has excelled with the Blades, showing Premier League quality for the most part. 

However, it remains to be seen if he will be a part of Bruno Lage’s plans at the Midlands club, which could pave the way for Sheffield United to step in. 

IN: Elliot Anderson

If it becomes immediately apparent that a move for Gibbs-White might be difficult to complete, then they could turn their full attention to Elliot Anderson. 

The exciting Newcastle United starlet has enjoyed a productive loan spell with Bristol Rovers during the second half of last
