2 changes we could see at Blackburn Rovers this summer

It remains to be seen just what position Blackburn Rovers will be in come the summer transfer window.

With the Ewood Park club still not out of the race for a Championship play-off place just yet, they could still be playing either top-flight or second-tier football next season.

That is something that could certainly have an effect on the personnel that are at the club next season, with plenty of decisions for both the club, and individuals to make, over whether or not they will be at Blackburn for the 2022/23 campaign.

So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at two significant changes we could see happen at Blackburn Rovers over the course of the summer, right here.

A managerial change

For all the recent talks about expiring player contracts at Ewood Park, it is of course worth noting, that manager Tony Mowbray sees his own with the club come to an end in the summer.

That means there is a decision to be made on his own future, with a recent run of two wins in 15 putting some scrutiny on Mowbray’s position at Ewood Park.

Indeed, the 58-year-old has admitted that he has yet to hold talks with Rovers over a new deal, and suggested that the club will decide on his future when they know how this season will end.

As a result, if another damaging run in the second half of the season does end up costing Blackburn, there may well be a chance that we see a new face in the dugout at Ewood Park, come the start of next season.

A new look strike force

On the pitch, one area where Rovers could look rather different is in attack, where top scorer Ben Brereton-Diaz could be on the move as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
