£16.2m Rangers ace accused of looking 'completely out of his depth'

Rangers loanee Amad Diallo was “completely out of his depth” in the Gers’ Old Firm derby defeat last month, says journalist Chris Jack.

The 19-year-old joined the Glasgow outfit from Manchester United in January and has struggled in general since arriving at Ibrox.

Initially, very well. The £16.2m-rated winger was able to make an instant impact when he scored on his Gers debut in the 3-3 draw with Ross County.

However, since then, things have gone a bit downhill for Diallo. He was hooked off at half-time in that humiliating 3-0 defeat against rivals Celtic and has seen little action following his underwhelming performance that night.

The Ivorian played just five minutes the game after, a 5-0 victory over Hearts, before failing to make appearances against Hibernian and Motherwell.

Diallo also failed to feature at all in Rangers’ incredible Europa League triumph over Borussia Dortmund so clearly does not have manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s full trust at the minute.

Speaking about Diallo’s performance against Celtic specifically, Jack feels he really struggled when coming up against Ange Postecoglou’s men.

The Herald and Glasgow Times journalist told GIVEMESPORT: “Parkhead, he just looked like a kid that was in the wrong movie, completely out of his depth, didn’t know where he was meant to be or what he was meant to be doing.”

Not really. He obviously arrived with high expectations, with this being a player who United paid £37.2m for in total when they snapped him up from Atalanta.
