£142m boost, striker signs - Manchester United's dream attack after seven transfers
After recording a goal difference of -10 in the Premier League last season, Manchester United had no choice but to prioritise strengthening their attack this summer.
After wrapping up the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5million just over a fortnight ago, United are now closing in on the signing of Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo for a fee in excess of £60m.
Should United add Mbeumo to Ruben Amorim's pool of attacking options, he will become their second statement signing of the summer. Between them, Cunha and Mbeumo got 35 goals in the Premier League last season.
United scored just 44 league goals as a collective last term and they remain hungry to sign an out-and-out striker.
With the start of the new Premier League season now less than 50 days away, it will be here before we know it, meaning United will be determined to finalise their squad ahead of the big kick-off. It means plenty of work is still to be done, particularly in the attacking department.
With that in mind, MEN Sport has had a look at what United need to do between now the start of the campaign to try and assemble an ideal pool of attacking options for Amorim.
With Cunha already signed, Mbeumo is expected to be the next new face through the door. United are closing in on his signature and it feels as though it will only be a matter of time before he arrives at Old Trafford.
Once Mbeumo is through the door, focus must switch to signing a No.9. After missing out on Liam Delap, it remains to be seen who United will turn to in their search for a goal-getter.
