"100%" - Journalist drops big internal Liverpool claim on 286-game star who Klopp loves

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘100%’ wants to keep James Milner at Anfield as he is a ‘huge admirer’ of the midfielder, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Reds may not be in the driving seat to secure the Premier League title, with Manchester City leading the way, but it seems Klopp has turned his attentions towards tying Milner down to an extended contract.

As things stand, Milner has entered the final weeks of his Liverpool career as his current deal, worth £150,000-per-week, is due to expire on June 30.

However, it has become abundantly clear that Klopp is keen to keep Milner, who joined from Manchester City close to seven years ago, beyond the end of the season.

It was reported back in February by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that the Merseyside giants have offered Milner a one-year contract extension.

While it appears an agreement could not be reached quickly, it seems the 61-cap former England international is edging towards putting pen-to-paper.

That is because the 36-year-old is reportedly increasingly ‘certain’ to agree terms on a fresh 12-month contract.

O’Rourke is certain that Klopp is eager to see Milner remain on Liverpool’s books for another season.

The journalist believes the Reds boss feels the versatile midfielder is management material and is a big fan.
