Bol, along with Eugene Omalla, Lieke Klaver and Isaya Klein Ikkink clocked a European record of 3min 07.43sec for victory. The United States took silver in 3:07.74, with Britain claiming bronze in a national record of 3:08.01. Bol was timed at a stunning 47.93sec for her final lap, which made up for last year's world championships in Budapest when she fell with the line begging to hand the gold to the US team.

A DRS (decision review system) confusion during the first Sri Lanka vs India ODI in Colombo irked captain Rohit Sharma. The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka turned out to be a nail-biting thriller. Chasing 231, Team India started off on a good note with skipper Rohit Sharma leading from the front with his 58-run knock. On the verge of victory, India needed one run off 15 balls with two wickets in hand. Chinese duo Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong won the badminton mixed doubles gold medal at the Paris Olympics after beating South Korea's Kim Won-ho/Jeong Na-eun in the final on Friday. Zheng and Huang, silver medalists at the Tokyo Olympics, won the gold medal match 21-8, 21-11.
