Djokovic sees off Musetti for Wimbledon final rematch with Alcaraz
LONDON :Seven-times champion Novak Djokovic produced some of his best tennis to outclass Italian 25th seed Lorenzo Musetti 6-4 7-6(2) 6-4 on Friday and reach a 10th Wimbledon final, where he will meet holder Carlos Alcaraz in a mouth-watering 2023 rematch.
Defending Wimbledon Champion Marketa Vondrousova Knocked Out In First Round
Marketa Vondrousova on Tuesday became the first defending Wimbledon women's champion in 30 years to be knocked out in the first round when she was stunned by world number 83 Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. The 21-year-old Spaniard triumphed 6-4, 6-2 over the sixth-ranked Czech, who last year was the first unseeded woman to win the title at the All England Club. German legend Steffi Graf was the last defending champion to lose in the opening round, when she was beaten by Lori McNeil in 1994. Until Tuesday she had never defeated a top-40 player, while her only other grass-court match this year was a first-round loss in a low-key event in Italy.

World number one Jannik Sinner moved into the Wimbledon quarter-finals with a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (11/9) win over American 14th seed Ben Shelton on Sunday. Sinner survived a late flurry of pressure from Shelton on Court One as he reached the last eight at the All England Club for a third successive year. The 22-year-old Italian top seed is bidding to win the grass-court Grand Slam for the first time. Djokovic had an awkward start to the first set that saw him being broken early but the Serbian ace produced his best show, beating the Italian in the first three sets to secure a convincing victory. Djokovic would now face Carlos Alcaraz in the final on Sunday. Alcaraz had beaten Russia's Daniil Medvedev in a 4-set clash.
