Adam Peaty's swimming triumphs have made him a celebrity and a household name - and Oliver Morgan could well follow. Oliver - known as Ollie - didn't take swimming seriously until he was 18 but has more than earned his place in the star-studded Team GB Olympic swimming team.
Adam Peaty tested positive for Covid at the Paris Olympics on Monday, the British team said, a day after winning silver in the 100m breaststroke despite apparently feeling under the weather. The decorated 29-year-old "is hopeful to be back in competition for the relay events later in the swimming programme", according to a Team GB statement. "Adam Peaty began feeling unwell on Sunday, ahead of his men's 100m breaststroke final," it said.
PARIS — Concerns about the water quality in the Seine led officials to call off the swimming portion of an Olympic triathlon training session for a second straight day Monday.
PARIS — Eurosport has dropped an Olympic swimming commentator from its Paris coverage for an «inappropriate» comment about women.
Olympic organisers cancelled a second day of triathlon training in the River Seine on Monday due to water pollution, increasing uncertainty over whether the men's and women's races will go ahead as scheduled in the coming days. The men's race is set to take place on Tuesday morning, with organisers set to make a last-minute decision when they have reviewed the latest laboratory results overnight. The waterway is still polluted after heavy rain storms on Friday during the opening ceremony in Paris and again on Saturday, which led to discharges of raw sewage.
It's a beautiful day here in Paris, a marked contrast to Friday and Saturday last when the rain was unforgiving. And there definitely was a sense that all is well in the world for the Irish contingent after the morning session in the pool.
