CWG 2022: India's Saurav Ghosal Wins Bronze, India's First Singles Medal In Commonwealth Games
Seasoned Indian squash player Saurav Ghosal on Wednesday won his first singles medal at the Commonwealth Games as he beat England's James Willstrop in straight games to take home the bronze medal. Ghosal, had won a silver medal in mixed doubles in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast in Australia. It is in fact India's first ever singles squash medal at CWG.
Saurav Ghosal wins historic bronze medal in CWG squash
Commonwealth Games here. World No.15 Ghosal dominated the contest against England's James Willstrop from beginning to end, winning 11-6 11-1 11-4 in the bronze play-off. It is Ghosal's second CWG medal, having won a mixed doubles silver with Dipika Pallikal in the 2018 Gold Coast edition.

The mixed doubles pair of veteran Joshna Chinappa and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Games here on Wednesday. The immensely experienced Chinappa and her partner Sandhu downed Sri Lanka's Yeheni Kuruppu and Ravindu Laksiri 8-11 11-4 11-3. The Indians were a bit shaky initially and ended up conceding the first game.
CWG 2022: Sunanya Kuruvilla Wins Women's Singles Squash Plate Final
India's Sunayna Kuruvilla defeated Fung-A-Fat of Guyana in the women's squash single plate final at the Commonwealth Games here on Wednesday. Sunayna downed her Guyanese opponent 11-7, 13-11, 11-2 in what turned out to be a comfortable victory for the 23-year-old squash player. Saurav Ghosal, who went down in the semifinal yesterday, will take on home favourite James Willstrop of England in the bronze medal play-off.

Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. It was always going to be a difficult task for Ghosal to beat the Kiwi but the Indian surrendered meekly, going down 9-11 4-11 1-11 to the world number two and the last edition's silver medallist in one hour and 23 minutes.
CWG 2022: India lose 1-3 to England in women's hockey
Commonwealth Games, going down 1-3 to England in a Pool A match on Tuesday. England found an early goal after Giselle Ansley (3rd minute) got a deflection off a penalty corner into the Indian goal. Tess Howard made it 2-0 in the third quarter (40th), before Hannah Martin scored the team's third in the fourth and final quarter (53rd).
