All-rounders Hardik Pandya and Cameron Green were part of two big trades in the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the mini auction for the new season, scheduled to take place on December 19. After spending two seasons at Gujarat Titans as captain, Pandya re-joined his first franchise Mumbai Indians as a part of an all-cash deal. He started his IPL career with MI in 2015 and represented them for seven seasons before making a switch to GT in 2022.
With just 13 members available out of the 15-man squad for their World Cup match against England, Australian captain Pat Cummins on Friday said teams should be allowed to travel with larger squads considering the tournament's duration. Looking to qualify for the semifinals, Australia will miss the services of star players Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh in Saturday's contest against their traditional rivals. Maxwell suffered a freak injury during a game of golf while Marsh has returned home for personal reasons, and no definite timeline is marked for his return to action. Maxwell, however, is likely to regain full fitness soon.

The tournament will begin on October 5 with England taking on New Zealand. Hosts India will begin their campaign in the competition against Australia in Chennai on October 8.

With pillars of Indian batting - skipper Rohit Sharma and the brilliant Virat Kohli -- resting for the first two games along with lead spinner Kuldeep Yadav and premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, it will be head coach Rahul Dravid's final chance to assess his bench strength.
