Five-Star Kagiso Rabada Rattles India As KL Rahul displays Grit On Rain-Hit Day

Kagiso Rabada was at his lethal best, knocking the stuffing out of India's batting ‘prima donnas' with a fifer on a track offering extra and variable bounce as South Africa took control of the proceedings on the opening day of the first Test on Tuesday. KL Rahul (70 batting, 105 balls) continued his love affair with Supersport Park, displaying excellent temperament on a difficult pitch taking India to 208 for 8 in 59 overs when rain forced early stumps. Rabada (5/44 in 17 overs) bowled two of the most intimidating and incisive spells witnessed in recent times to completely rock the Indian batting line-up, which struggled to cope with the conditions. One of the finest fast bowlers in contemporary cricket, Rabada bowled an absolute peach to dismiss Virat Kohli (38 off 64 balls) with the old ball after having bounced out Indian skipper Rohit Sharma (5) in his first spell.

Huge Rain Threat Over India's Boxing Day Test vs South Africa, Batters Will Face Tough Challenge

The batters could be in for some challenging times with the Supersport Park track expected to aid the fast bowlers as rain threat looms large over the opening Test between India and South Africa, curator Brain Bloy said on Saturday. The Centurion curator said that there is little possibility of play on opening day and better part of second day and due to heavy rain, there will be drop in temperature and spinners are unlikely to get much help.

Paarl Weather Report, India vs South Africa 3rd ODI: Could Rain Spoil Another Clash?

India and South Africa will be squaring off against each other in the third and final ODI match on Thursday in Paarl. The three-match series is currently levelled at 1-1 and both the teams will be putting their best foot forward, in order to claim the series. Apart from tough competition from both the sides, all eyes will be on the weather of Paarl. Rain played a spoilsport many times during the three-match T20I series between the two teams. The weather forecast of Paarl has stated that there will be no signs of rain.

India vs South Africa 2nd T20I Weather Report Today: Rain Threatens To Washout Another Contest

The first T20I between India and South Africa took a beating from the weather on Sunday after rain washed out the entire contest, without a ball being bowled, in Durban. As the two teams head to Gqeberha for the second match of the series, a similar threat looms. As India and South Africa look to get some valuable practice for next year's T20 World Cup, the second T20I might fail to offer what both teams are looking for, with an overall 78% chance of rain at the venue today.

Louis Oosthuizen holds off Charl Schwartzel to win at rain-delayed Alfred Dunhill Championship

Louis Oosthuizen overcame torn tendons in his arm and a nervy finish to win the rain-delayed Alfred Dunhill Championship on Monday, carding a final round 69 to finish two strokes ahead of home rival Charl Schwartzel. It was the first success in five years for the 41-year-old Oosthuizen, who started the final round tied with close friend Schwartzel, and was still level with him after play was suspended on Sunday because of heavy rain and the threat of lightning at Leopard Creek Country Club. Oosthuizen and Schwartzel resumed their battle amid more heavy rain on Monday but Schwartzel immediately bogeyed the eighth hole, and again three putted on the 10th, to allow Oosthuizen to take the lead. The 2010 Open winner, who hurt his arm on Friday, consolidated his advantage with birdies on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 15th holes to open up a three-shot lead with two holes to go. But there was a sudden show of nerves as Oosthuizen bogeyed the 17th with a poor putt and then hit a wayward approach to the last but still managed to save par. "I had a good run there at the end from the 13th through to the 15th and this was a tournament that I really wanted to win, it took me a while," said Oosthuizen, who brushed off his injury. "I'm managing it but it's fine," he said. It is the fifth time that 2011 Masters champion Schwartzel has finished runner-up at Leopard Creek, having also won the tournament four times, three of them at the picturesque course on the border of Kruger Park.
