Francesca Clapcich of the 11th Hour Racing Team has described the scary moment she was left 'hanging' onto the boat during a frantic In-Port event at The Ocean Race on Tuesday. The Italian was thrown off the boat as she tried to clear a sail but managed to clamber back on board and emerged unscathed from the incident. Ad “One of the J2 sheets was stuck under the other sail,” she explained after the race.
GUYOT environnement – Team Europe claimed a barnstorming win in The Hague on Tuesday for their first Ocean Race victory, while 11th Hour Racing Team tightened their grip on the first place in the In-Port standings. Skipper Benjamin Dutroux oversaw a superb start as Team Europe hit the start line at top speed on the foils and edged ahead of 11th Hour to take a lead that they refused to relinquish in the two-lap race in fast and choppy conditions. Ad 11th Hour couldn’t make up the gap to the leaders but by finishing as runners-up they extended their lead at the top of the In-Port standings – which act as a tie-breaker for the overall race leaderboard — by a point over Team Malizia, who came third.

Biotherm won the In-Port Race at Aarhus on Sunday afternoon at The Ocean Race 2022-23. It was a huge victory for Biotherm as they only arrived in Denmark on Saturday night for the event after a difficult Leg 5 of the main competition from Newport, Rhode Island. Ad Before the race kicked off, 11th Hour Racing Team were top of the overall IMOCA standings on 28 points, followed by Team Holcim-PRB on 27 and Team Malizia with 24.

After the poor weather of the previous day had seen the In-Port Race postponed to become the start of the main race on Sunday, the teams knew a fast start would be vital in a bid to begin the leg by garnering some points. Ad And it was 11th Hour Racing Team who stormed out of the start gate, putting all their knowledge of the local waters to good use to develop a big gap back to their competing boats.
