PCB Breaks Silence On Reports Of Rohit Sharma Not Travelling For Champions Trophy Ceremony

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official has expressed concerns over the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) alleged decision of not sending India captain Rohit Sharma to Pakistan for the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy 2025 set to begin on February 19. Rohit was also expected to attend the customary captains' photo shoot and the pre-event press conference in Pakistan. For the unversed, India will play all their Champions Trophy matches in Dubai including the clash against Pakistan on February 23. Meanwhile, the BCCI has neither denied sending Rohit to Pakistan nor confirmed his travel. However, the PCB official further conveyed his disappointment over reports that the Indian team would not wear Pakistan's name on their tournament jersey.

Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite pointed out the reason behind West Indies' 127-run defeat against Pakistan in the first Test match of the series and said that the pitch in Multan was difficult to bat on. With the help of Sajid Khan's nine-wicket haul in the Multan Test, Pakistan clinched a massive 127-run triumph over West Indies on Sunday. "Come To Graveyard": Mohammed Rizwan Mocks West Indies Star During Multan Test - Watch

Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan was involved in a hilarious moment with West Indies spinner Kevin Sinclair on Day 2 of the 1st Test in Multan on Saturday. The incident happened after Sinclair walked to bat out with West Indies reeling at 6/42 in the second session. As Sinclair was walked out in the middle, Rizwan hilariously mocked him by labelling the pitch in Multan as a "graveyard". Batters on Day 2 and Day 3 struggled to play against the spinners.

During the PSL draft, the PCB had set a maximum base price salary of USD 200,000 to franchises for each overseas player. Only 41.3 overs of play were possible on the first day, where Pakistan rebuilt to 143/4 at Stumps, after tottering at 46/4 at one stage. Wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel are at the crease, having both completed their half-centuries on Day 1. West Indies' 23-year-old pacer Jayden Seales impressed with three wickets, but they will look to the likes of Gudakesh Motie to bag them more wickets in the spin-friendly conditions. Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has backed the proposed two-tier system in red-ball cricket but asserted that "it should be on a relegation and promotion basis" to make it more exciting. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Cricket Australia chair Mike Baird, England and Wales Cricket Board chief Richard Thompson, and BCCI representatives will meet ICC Chairman Jay Shah later this month to discuss about a potential two-tier Test system starting in 2027.
