They will be bolstered by the return of de Silva, a batting all-rounder who was one of four players to get the virus before and during the second Test against Australia. De Silva replaces Kamindu Mendis, who made an impressive 61 on debut in the previous match.

The Pakistan men's cricket team was seen sweating it out in Galle ahead of the first Test against Sri Lanka, starting from Saturday, July 16. Both teams are set to play two Tests at the picturesque Galle International Cricket Stadium and the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The touring Pakistan side recently played a warm-up match with the Sri Lanka Cricket XI at the Colts Cricket Club Ground in Colombo. The match had ended in a draw. A five-member security team of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) will visit Pakistan on July 17 to inspect arrangements and potential venues ahead of England's tour to the country. The England Cricket Team are scheduled to tour Pakistan for the first time since 2015 when they play a 7-match T20I series and three Tests in September or October. "The delegation which includes two cricket operations officials, two security experts and a representative of their professional cricketers association will be visiting Lahore, Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi," a senior Pakistan Cricket Board official told PTI.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has told the national assembly standing committee on sports that he uses a bulletproof vehicle because of a security threat. Responding to questions on the benefits and perks he gets as chairman of the board, Ramiz said he is "not a big financial burden" on the PCB as the former national team captain, among other things, also takes care of his medical expenses. "Ramiz did tell the committee members at one stage that he only used the bullet proof vehicle of the board because of a security threat otherwise he avoided taking any perks from the PCB," a source aware of the meeting proceedings said.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been slotted in Category A of both the newly-announced white-ball as well as red-ball contracts by the Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB announced on Thursday.
