Mohammad Rizwan tried to take a run without his bat but the result was not quite what he expected during the third T20I encounter between Pakistan and New Zealand on Wednesday. During the sixth over of the Pakistan innings, Rizwan played a ball from Matt Henry on the on-side but while sprinting to take a run, he lost control of his bat. He did not slow down and after touching down the crease at the non-striker end with his gloves, he ran to complete a second run. Although he had to complete a full-stretch dive at the end, no harm was done. However, the replays showed that during the first run, Rizwan's gloves were just short of the crease and as a result, the umpire decided to signal a short run.

Director Mohammad Hafeez's Long Meetings Making Pakistan Players "Restless": Report

Pakistan cricket team's director Mohammed Hafeez is reportedly making a lot of players in the side "restless" and the major reason behind the simmering disquiet is his tendency to hold "long meetings and lectures". According to media reports in Karachi, some players, who were not named, are unhappy with the meetings held by Hafeez during the tour of Australia and now in New Zealand. "He holds very long meetings and gives long lectures and some of the players get restless because same things are repeated," one media report said.

The Pakistan team management confirmed in a statement that a low grade abdominal muscle strain to Afridi will keep him out of the third T20I, with a decision on his availability for the remaining two matches to be taken later. “His scan has shown no sign of significant injury, and he will be managed symptomatically. According to a Pakistani media outlet, Rauf was so disheartened by the criticism that he contemplated international retirement at one point but after being advised by his family and friends, he decided against it. Ahead of Pakistan's three-Test series in Australia, Rauf came in for criticism after it was revealed that he pulled out from the tour after chief selector Wahab Riaz and team director Mohammad Hafeez had a chat with him.
