It's been just a week since the Tashkent World Championships - where, in an electric atmosphere, fourteen champions were crowned, local heroes made and an amazing mixed-team competition held - creating unforgettable memories for judo fans in Uzbekistan and around the world.
One of the most exciting dates on the Judo tour, the mixed team World Championships, took place today in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Day seven at the World Judo Championships saw yesterday’s champions come to meet their adoring fans. New Uzbek hero Turaboyev signed t-shirts and created unforgettable memories.
On day six of the World Judo Championships, local hero Davlat Bobonov met his adoring public to sign autographs and take pictures with the next generation of Judoka, following his amazing victory the previous day.
This year’s World Judo Championships, the 61st edition, sees 581 athletes from 81 countries competing at the Ice Dome in Tashkent. It is the first occasion that Uzbekistan has hosted a World Championships. Three competitions are taking place at the World Championships this year — the men’s, women’s, and a mixed event occurring on the final day.
Day five at the World Judo Championships saw The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Mr Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attend the event, where he met Mr Marius Vizer, the President of the International Judo Federation, and they witnessed an historic moment for Judo in Uzbekistan.
Canada's Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard earned a silver medal in the world judo championship Sunday.
