Ottl gets late EWC call-up as substitute Davies forced to withdraw

Philipp Öttl will make his FIM Endurance World Championship debut as a late replacement for Chaz Davies at ERC Endurance-Ducati when the 24 Heures Motos opens the new season from 14-17 April. Davies had been called up by the German squad following Lorenzo Zanetti’s crash in a Campionato Italiano Velocità race at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli earlier this month.

ERC Endurance-Ducati is the team to beat so far as the first track action of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship season took place with Free Practice for the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans this morning. Italian rider Niccolò Canepa set a session-topping lap of 1m35.782s on the 4.185-kilometre Circuit Bugatti, venue of the opening round of the 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship from 14-17 April. ERC Endurance Ducati was second fastest with a 1m36.386s best followed by BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, whose German rider Markus Reiterberger posted a 1m36.511s effort.
