SC defers hearing of AIFF case after Centre says discussion with FIFA on to break some ice

The Supreme Court on Wednesday told the government to work on lifting FIFA's suspension of the All India Football Federation. The top court heard the case a day after FIFA suspended India's top football body for "undue influence from third parties" and said the U-17 Women's World Cup "cannot currently be held in India as planned". The IOA officials are expected to meet on Wednesday. The Delhi High Court directed the setting up of a three-member CoA to take over the affairs of the IOA, saying its "persistent recalcitrance" to comply with the Sports Code made it imperative that its affairs be put in the hands of the committee.
