The Pool FURIOUS Quarter Finals delivered more than their fair share of on-track action at the Hungaroring today, with Romeo Ferraris’ Bruno Spengler and Hyundai’s Motorsport N’s Jean Karl Vernay finishing first in their respective battles. Poleman Adrien Tambay, driving for CUPRA EKS, had a slower start to the Pool FURIOUS Quarter Final 1 than Spengler, moving into second place ahead of team-mate Tom Blomqvist.
Lewis Hamilton is being investigated by the stewards at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for driving unnecessarily slowly during qualifying but insists he's not concerned. Mercedes' Hamilton appeared to hold up McLaren's Lando Norris, whose team-mate Daniel Ricciardo was just behind, and is being looked into for going too slowly against a target time.
Santiago Urrutia will start the partially reversed-grid Race 2 from pole position at WTCR Race of Hungary after qualifying in P10 at the Hungaroring. The first Quarter Finals for FIA ETCR RACE HU took place this afternoon, with CUPRA EKS driver Mattias Ekström taking the chequered flag first in Quarter Final 1 and Maxime Martin claiming the same in Quarter Final 2 for Romeo Ferraris. Ekström started the race on Pole but lost the lead early on to former team-mate Mikel Azcona who remained at the front for the majority of the 3-lap race, while Hyundai Motorsport N’s Kevin Ceccon was left with third place after running wide at the first corner.
