Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned his side must be "ready to suffer" against Villarreal if they are to reach the Champions League final.
Brazilian forward Richarlison scored what turned out to be the winning goal as Everton stunned Chelsea 1-0 at Goodison Park to keep their chances of survival alive. After his goal, which came one minute into the second half, fans went into a frenzy, with some throwing smoke flares on to the ground. Richarlison went on to pick up a smoke flare and throw it back into the stands. The video has gone viral, with some asking for the player to be punished.
Everton kept alive their hopes of Premier League survival by shocking Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday, as Arsenal maintained their two-point lead over Tottenham in the battle to qualify for next season's Champions League. Arsenal were 2-1 winners at West Ham to move back above Spurs, who earlier beat Leicester 3-1 thanks to a Son Heung-min double. Everton's huge win at a raucous Goodison Park means Frank Lampard's side are just two points from safety and have a game in hand to come over Leeds and Burnley.
Ralf Rangnick said on Wednesday that Manchester United must face up to the reality their top-four hopes have likely disappeared as they prepare to take on Chelsea this week without a swathe of key players.
Leeds held on for a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace that did little to ease their fears of being dragged deeper into the Premier League relegation battle on Monday. Jesse Marsch's side survived a second half barrage from a Palace team inspired by Wilfried Zaha after he was accused of diving by the visitors. Leeds are five points clear of the relegation zone, but third bottom Everton have a game in hand to close the gap to two points.

Erik ten Hag will become Manchester United manager next season, tasked with turning around nearly a decade of decline since legendary former manager Alex Ferguson retired. The Red Devils have not won a trophy in five years and are unlikely to even qualify for next season's Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo was welcomed back to Old Trafford as a hero in August with United fans dreaming of challenging Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea for the Premier League title.
Erik Ten Hag has never shied away from a challenge, but the biggest task of the Dutchman's coaching career awaits after accepting the role of Manchester United manager. Ten Hag, 52, will leave Ajax at the end of the season having restored their pride at the top table of European football in the Champions League and dominated domestically in his four years in charge. Performing a similar turnaround in United's fortunes after nearly a decade in the doldrums will be a higher mountain to scale.
