The Indian Cricketers' Association on Tuesday released a statement and the body condemned the "threatening message" sent by a journalist to wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. The ICA has also welcomed the BCCI's decision to probe the issue. "We acknowledge the fact that the media plays a very important role both in the growth of our game and the players but there's always a line that must never be crossed. What has happened in Saha's case is totally unacceptable and we call for the respective press organisations too to take up the matter and ensure such things are not repeated," ICA President Ashok Malhotra said in an official statement.

Wriddhiman Saha Says He Will Not Reveal Identity Of Journalist

Wriddhiman Saha has received an outpouring of support after sharing a screenshot of messages he received from a journalist following the Indian selection committee's decision to drop him from the Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka. Speaking to PTI, BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal had said the board would look into the matter and that BCCI secretary Jay Shah "will certainly speak to Wriddhiman". However, in an interview with The Indian Express, said that he would not reveal the identity of the journalist to the board because it was "never my intention to harm somebody's career, to pull a person down."

Saha, 37, who has been dropped from Indian team, had taken to Twitter to allege that one "respected" journalist took an aggressive tone after his refusal to grant him an interview. After his tweet, former head coach Ravi Shastri, and former stars like Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh came out in his support and asked him to reveal the name of the journalist.
