BCCI Apex Council To Review Probe Committee Report On Saha Allegations

The BCCI Apex Council will review the probe committee's report concerning India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who had accused journalist Boria Majumdar of intimidating him, at its meeting on April 23. The BCCI had formed a three-member panel comprising vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia to probe Saha's allegation. The 37-year-old India discard appeared before the Committee last month and so did the accused journalist Majumdar and presented their respective versions. Saha had alleged that Majumdar intimidated him for not giving him an interview.

Veteran Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, who has alleged that he was intimidated by a journalist for not giving an interview, on Saturday said he has revealed all the details to a BCCI committee probing the matter. A three-member committee on Saturday met Saha here on Saturday to probe into the 37-year-old's allegations against the unnamed journalist. "I have told the committee everything I know. I have shared all the details with them. I can't tell you much right now. BCCI has asked me not to talk about the meeting outside as they will answer all your queries," Saha told reporters after appearing before the committee in New Delhi.

BCCI Central Contracts: Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara Dropped From Grade A to B

Out of favour veteran batter Cheteshwar Pujara and former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane were downgraded in the latest central contracts list of the BCCI that was ratified by the Board's Apex Council on Wednesday. The BCCI has four categories -- A which has annual remuneration of Rs 7 crore while A, B and C categories are valued at Rs 5 crore, Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively. Last time, 28 cricketers were provided central contracts but this year, 27 have been awarded contracts with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah static as A players.

Veteran India wicketkeeper batter Dinesh Karthik on Tuesday said he could understand it would have been a "hard one to swallow" for Wriddhiman Saha when the team management decided to move on from him but said the call was pretty understandable as Rishabh Pant had "pretty much nailed his place in the side." Lauding the wicket-keeping skills of Saha, who was excluded from the Indian Test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, Karthik said, "But you can see Rishabh Pant has pretty much nailed his place in the team. So then, you can understand which direction the Indian team is going in where they feel that if it's going to be a second keeper role, then they'll look at somebody younger."

Former India wicketkeeper Chandrakant Pandit has offered his backing to Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid amid the ongoing saga over wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha being dropped from the Test side. Pandit, who played 5 Tests and 36 ODIs for India from 1986 to 1992, said that Dravid's decision to convey to Saha that the latter would no longer be a part of the team was "not a bad way" to go about things. "This was not a bad way of conveying a message of the coach's plan, also the team plan to Saha and making him understand. It is better than keeping him waiting and waiting, then somebody else jumps the queue. It would have been harsh on Saha," Pandit said in an interview to News18.

BCCI Constitutes 3-Member Committee To Probe 'Threats' From Journalist To Wriddhiman Saha

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday constituted a three-member committee to look into the matter of India wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha receiving threats and intimidation from a senior journalist. "The three member committee comprises of BCCI Vice-President Mr Rajiv Shukla, BCCI Treasurer Mr Arun Singh Dhumal and BCCI Apex Council Member Mr Prabhtej Singh Bhatia. The committee will start the proceedings as early as next week," BCCI said in a statement. Saha, a centrally contracted cricketer, was allegedly threatened by a senior journalist for not responding to his messages asking for an interview.

Wriddhiman Saha Says Journalist Whose Controversial Texts He Had Shared On Social Media Has 'Neither Got In Touch Nor Apologised'

Wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha has said that the journalist, whose controversial texts he had shared on social media without naming the person, is yet to get in touch with him or apologise for his behaviour. Saha had shared screenshot of messages from an unnamed journalist last week, where the latter has asked for an interview from the player. The journalist would later send texts that seemed aggressive in tone after not receiving a response from Saha. The matter became a full-blown controversy after Saha shared the screenshot of the texts, leading to many former cricketers offering him support and the BCCI also taking cognizance of the matter.

BCCI May Ask Wriddhiman Saha To Explain Breach Of Central Contract Clause With Comments On Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid

The BCCI in all likelihood will ask veteran keeper Wriddhiman Saha about his recent outburst after being dropped from the Indian team as it is in violation of protocols to be followed by a centrally contracted cricketer. The annual central contracts that players sign (Saha is in Group B with annual retainership of Rs 3 crore) has a clause 6.3, which apparently he has violated.
