JOHANNESBURG : South Africa have added all-rounder Marco Jansen to their squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Proteas all-rounder Marco Jansen has been called up in South Africa's 15-man squad for next week's ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Cricket South Africa on Thursday confirmed that all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against India and the upcoming T20 World Cup due to a fracture of his left thumb. The board confirmed the news ahead of the first ODI against India, which is underway at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
There has been a heated debate in the cricketing fraternity after India's Deepti Sharma ran England's Charlie Dean out at the non-striker's end during a women's ODI recently. However, ICC's rule book suggests that a bowler can do the same if the non-striker is out of the crease. During the third T20I between India and South Africa, pacer Deepak Chahar, too, had the chance to dismiss South Africa's Tristan Stubbs at the non-striker's end, but he decided against it. The incident happened in the 16th over when Chahar was about to bowl the first ball but stopped just short.
South Africa's Rilee Rossouw on Tuesday called his maiden Twenty20 international century coming against a "world-class" India "special" after he helped the tourists to a consolation 49-run win in the third match.
South Africa beat India by 49 runs in the third and final Twenty20 match on the back of Rilee Rossouw's maiden T20I century to record a consolation victory in Indore on Tuesday as the hosts won the series 2-1.
Deepak Chahar could have added some drama to the 3rd T20I against South Africa at Indore but he decided against it. The Indian bowler stopped short of delivering his first ball of the 16th over as he gave Tristan Stubbs a warning at the non-striker's end for backing up too far. There was an exchange of eye-contact between the two players and Stubbs was left with a wry smile on his face.
Following the furore over a Mankad incident in a recent women's ODI between England and India a week ago, a similar scenario almost played out when the Proteas faced India in the third T20 on Tuesday.
