BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Leads Congratulatory Messages For India's U19 World Cup-winning Team

The Yash Dhull-led Indian team won the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup by beating England by 4 wickets in the final in Antigua on Sunday. This is a record-extending fifth triumph for India in the U19 World Cup. England's attempt to win their second title, since winning the tournament way back in 1998 ended in disappointment as the unbeaten Indian juggernaut steamrolled their opposition. India were tremendous with the ball, reducing England to 61/6, before rearguard from James Rew (95) took the team to 189 all out. India were made to work hard for their runs and eventually it was unbeaten knock of 50 from Nishant Sindhu and  another half-century from vice-captain Shaik Rasheed (50) that took the team home. Raj Angad Bawa was adjudged player of the match for his devastating spell of 5/31 and mature knock of 35 that set up the victory.

The duo is eighth in the list of pairs with the highest partnership runs in ODIs with their 4906 runs and needs just 94 runs more to become the eighth pair to complete 5000 partnership runs in the 50-over format. This elite list is led by Team India greats Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, who put together 8227 runs in 176 innings at an average of 47.55 runs.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has said that the board is "at the level of formulation" for a full-fledged women's Indian Premier League (IPL). Responding to query in an interview with news agency PTI, the former Indian cricket team captain said that a women's IPL "is certainly going to happen". Ganguly also gave a timeline for the start of the competition. "We are at the level of formulation to have a full-fledged WIPL. It is certainly going to happen. "Hopefully, They Will Go Back To..." Sourav Ganguly's Suggestion For Ajinkya Rahane And Cheteshwar Pujara

India batters Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have been under the scanner for their performances of late in Test cricket. Many current and former cricketers have suggested that the Indian team should drop the veteran duo, urging the management to look ahead to the future. However, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has a different suggestion for India's Test veterans. The former India skipper feels both Rahane and Pujara shouldn't mind going back to playing domestic cricket, having played so much international cricket.

With Sri Lanka Tests pushed back to March, Cheteshwar Pujara-Ajinkya Rahane set to get Ranji Trophy lifeline

Ranji Trophy has offered a lifeline to veterans Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to get their Test career back on track. With Test series against Sri Lanka set to be played from first week of March after the T20Is starting February 25, a big hundred in the Ranji Trophy will provide the confidence that they need and probably ensure that they retain their place in the Indian team. The Elite group games will start from February 16 after the Plate group matches begin from February 10 and both under-fire seniors will get two matches at least to convince the selectors. Both seasoned batters have already started training with the Mumbai and Saurashtra squad respectively and are determined to score the big runs that are expected of them. In fact, both will be in opposite teams if they are part of the crucial Saurashtra-Mumbai fixture in Ahmedabad. "Ajinkya is definitely looking forward to it. We have met a few times now, he has been practising with the Mumbai team. He has had about couple of sessions already. Looked absolutely in fine touch," Mumbai coach Amol Mujumdar told PTI. "We don't have to look too much into the future but what is lying ahead of us is Ranji Trophy. They both are due for a big one. I feel it is just a question of confidence. Sometimes batting is nothing but confidence. "If you can regain that confidence somehow. It will come only if you score a big hundred," added Mujumdar. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also expects Pujara and Rahane to pile on the runs in the premier domestic competition.
