Australian T20 World Cup winners Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis have both been retained by their English franchises for this season's second running of the controversial Hundred.
Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues were among the overseas players retained by their respective franchises for the 2022 edition of the women's Hundred. The three other Indian players -- Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma -- who were part of the last edition have been released by their franchises and will be available for selection by other teams. Rodrigues plays for the Northern Superchargers while Mandhana represents the Southern Brave in the 100-ball per innings match.
Glenn Maxwell and South Africa's Faf du Plessis were among several overseas stars announced Tuesday to have signed up for the 2022 edition of English cricket's the Hundred. The second season of the eight-team, 100 balls-per-side tournament will also feature some of the world's leading women's players in Australia's Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy, India's Smriti Mandhana and South Africa's Lizelle Lee.
Mithali Raj was frank in her admission that team's bowling is a huge concern going into the ICC Women's World Cup after the side's 63-run defeat in the fourth ODI against New Zealand on Tuesday. India are now 0-4 down in the five-match series and Mithali's bowling attack has failed to defend 270 and 279 in the second and third games.
cricket team's horror tour of New Zealand continued as the White Ferns demolished the visitors by 63 runs in a rain-curtailed fourth WODI on Tuesday to inch towards a clean sweep in the five-match series here. The game became a glorified 'T20' due to rain as Amelia Kerr stole the show with a 33-ball-68 which took New Zealand to 191 for 5. Amelia, one half of the famous Kerr sisters, then mopped up the tail with 3 for 30 as India managed only 128 before being all-out in 17.5 overs. Teenager Richa Ghosh's counter-attacking 52 off 29 balls was the only silver lining in an otherwise disastrous performance which has now led to five defeats on this tour including the one-off T20. The bowling performance of the Indians seemed to have nose-dived with each passing game and it was the worst on Tuesday where only Rajeshwari Gayakwad (4-0-26-1) looked the part.
