YAOUNDE, Cameroon: Senegal captain Sadio Mane, who scored the decisive shootout penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations final triumph over Egypt, was named player of the tournament in Yaounde on Sunday. His successful kick atoned for a missed penalty just seven minutes into the final when goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal pushed a powerful kick down the middle to safety.
Manchester United's attentions now turn back to the Premier League after the disappointment of exiting the FA Cup on Friday.
Sadio Mane scored the winning spot-kick as Senegal claimed a first ever Africa Cup of Nations title with a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over seven-times winners Egypt following a 0-0 draw in the decider in Yaounde, Cameroon on Sunday.
Senegal defeated Egypt 4-2 on penalties in Sunday's Africa Cup of Nations final after the sides couldn't be separated over 120 minutes of scoreless football. Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made a fourth-round save to hand Senegal the advantage, and Liverpool talisman Sadio Mane converted the winning spot kick.
