Chatham Town manager Kevin Hake looks ahead to home game against Burgess Hill Town this Saturday after last weekend’s loss at Cheshunt
Chatham Town are looking to put a difficult week behind them when they return to the Bauvill Stadium on Saturday.
The Chats suffered a second successive defeat last weekend, conceding three goals in a 13-minute spell midway through the second half in a 3-1 loss at Cheshunt.
It came hot on the heels of a 4-0 away reverse to Isthmian Premier league leaders Enfield Town last Tuesday, leaving boss Kevin Hake frustrated at the way his side have been punished for their mistakes.
But with a home game against Burgess Hill Town next up, Hake is hoping his squad can start to turn things around, with the return of injured players also offering some encouragement.
He said: “I was disappointed with the result at Cheshunt because I felt there were periods where we did enough to get something from the game.
“We created opportunities and got ourselves into some promising positions, but ultimately we were punished for mistakes and at this level you have to be better in both boxes.
“We have also had to deal with a difficult run of injuries, which has certainly not helped, but I do not want that to become an excuse.
“In truth, we have probably been blessed over the last few years with relatively good availability, so we have to accept that there will be periods in a season when that changes.
“Everyone who is currently out is working hard to get back as quickly as possible and hopefully over the next few weeks we will start to see the situation improve and the squad strengthen again.”
Saturday’s home fixture against @Official_BHTFC is dedicated to Remembrance Day, as we honour those who fought and served for the freedoms we enjoy today. We will be offering free entry to all current or former military personnel for Saturday’s fixture.
