The FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup will be settled this weekend in Sachsenring as the season comes to its conclusion in Saxony, Germany, with four drivers in contention for the Drivers’ title in Race DE. After an exciting first season as an FIA World Cup, with racing taking place in France, Hungary, Spain, Belgium and Italy, four drivers can take the title this weekend, with all three manufacturers represented in the title fight.
Romeo Ferraris head to this weekend’s finale of the FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup season sitting in third place in the Manufacturers’ standings, just two points adrift of their nearest rival, Hyundai Motorsport in second spot, meaning that the team runner-up spot battle is still very much alive. Hyundai Motorsport will rely on its WTCR – FIA Word Touring Car Cup stars past and present to achieve its objectives in the FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup season decider at the Sachsenring in Germany this weekend. The team heads to Race DE (September 23-25) with the aim of finishing runner-up in the Manufacturers’ standings and third in the Drivers’ table. Ad Heading into the season finale in Sachsening, Martin still has a mathematic chance to take the first FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup title and will certainly be in contention to add to his nine wins so far in the series.
CUPRA EKS driver Mattias Ekström entered the first season of the FIA ETCR eTouring Car World Cup as the defending ETCR title winner through his glory in PURE ETCR. The Swedish driver, after the five races held so far this season, is in second place in the drivers’ standings, just 14 points behind team-mate Adrien Tambay. Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Mattias says he will give his all against the tough rivalry he has encountered this year in FIA ETCR, from his own team-mates Tambay and Tom Blomqvist to former team-mate now driving for Hyundai Motorsport N, Mikel Azcona and Romeo Ferraris driver Maxime Martin.
