Arjun Tendulkar bowled a sensational last over as Mumbai Indians held their nerve to seal a 14-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL on Tuesday.
Cameron Green flaunted his brute power on the way to a maiden IPL fifty before Arjun Tendulkar bowled a brilliant 20th over in extreme pressure as Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs for their third straight win in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Green (64 not out off 40) and Tilak Varma (37 off 17) fired Mumbai Indians to a challenging 192 for five after being put in to bat. With the odd ball not coming on to the bat, it was tough to get the boundaries from the get go but Sunrisers recovered from an ordinary powerplay to take the game deep with the help of opener Mayank Agarwal (48 off 41) and Heinrich Klaasen (36 off 16).
Arjun Tendulkar's IPL debut was widely followed as he played his first match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders. While Arjun, son of Sachin Tendulkar, could not scalp any wicket in his first match, the wait ended in his second match, that too in a tense last over against SunRisers Hyderabad. With SRH needing 20 runs in the last over, Arjun scalped his maiden wicket on the fifth ball as he dismissed Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was caught by Rohit Sharma at covers. Before that, Arjun looked like following a plan and delivered a couple of good yorkers to keep the SRH batters at bay.
While other Mumbai Indians batters made merry against SunRisers Hyderabad in an IPL 2023 game, Suryakumar Yadav fell cheaply on 7. Barring a 43 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Suryakumar has not been able to score in double digits in the other matches. On Tuesday, Suryakumar was dismissed by Marco Jansen as he was caught by Aiden Markram after a valiant effort. The attempt was appreciated by SRH franchise owner.
Rohit Sharma entered a special club in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday as he completed 6000 runs in the elite T20 competition. This is only the fourth time in IPL history that a batter has scored over 6000 runs in the IPL. Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner are the only other batters to have scored over 6000 runs. Rohit reached the mark in the third over of MI's innings with a four off SRH spinner Washington Sundar.
Mumbai Indians thrashed Kolkata Knight Riders by five wicket in their previous IPL 2023 match. The five-time champions are now all set to take on SunRisers Hyderabad on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Match against KKR was a memorable one as MI included debutants Arjun Tendulkar and Duan Jansen in their Playing XI. Chasing a target of 186, the biggest contribution was made by Ishan Kishan, who smashed 58 off 25 balls. For the past three matches, MI have been missing the services of their star pacer Jofra Archer, who has been out due to an elbow injury. It will be interesting to see whether Archer will make his way back into Playing XI or not.
After defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring encounter, SunRisers Hyderabad will be squaring off against Mumbai Indians in their next IPL 2023 match on Tuesday. The 2016 champions posted a whopping total of 228/4 in 20 overs after Harry Brook slammed the maiden century of the season. Later, KKR were restricted to 205/7 despite fighting knocks of 75 and 58* from Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh respectively. As the Aiden Markram-led side is all set to face the five-time champions in Hyderabad, they are likely to go ahead with their same Playing XI.
Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad will both be looking to continue their winning run when they face each other in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday. Both sides registered wins over Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous matches with the batsmen finding forms. While Harry Brook slammed the first century of IPL 2023 for SRH, MI found their heroes in Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav who both played an impressive knock and led the side in Rohit Sharma's absence.
